Anna Quindlen
Anna Quindlen is an American author, journalist, and Pulitzer Prize-winning essayist known for her poignant commentary on family life, social issues, and contemporary culture. Born in Philadelphia, Quindlen graduated from Barnard College and began her journalism career at The New York Post before joining The New York Times, where she wrote the widely read ‘Public and Private’ column.
In 1992, Quindlen became the third woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for Commentary. She transitioned successfully into bestselling fiction, authoring acclaimed novels such as One True Thing (which was adapted into a feature film starring Meryl Streep) and Black and Blue.
She has also written several poignant non-fiction books, including A Short Guide to a Happy Life. Quindlen’s compassionate, clear-eyed prose and fierce advocacy for civil rights and personal authenticity have made her a beloved voice in American literature and journalism.
