Anne Tyler
Anne Tyler is an award-winning American novelist and literary critic celebrated for her understated, compassionate portrayals of eccentric family dynamics in Baltimore. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Tyler grew up in a utopian Quaker community before studying at Duke University and doing graduate work in Russian literature at Columbia University.
Tyler published her debut novel, If Morning Ever Comes, in 1964, and went on to author over twenty novels characterized by sharp domestic observation and gentle humor. She won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1988 for her bestselling novel Breathing Lessons, and her acclaimed work The Accidental Tourist was adapted into an Oscar-winning film.
