Anthony Doerr

Anthony Doerr is an American author of novels and short stories celebrated for his exquisite prose, lyrical imagination, and meticulous historical research. Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Doerr graduated from Bowdoin College and earned an MFA from Bowling Green State University.

Doerr achieved international literary stardom with his 2014 historical novel All the Light We Cannot See, set in occupied France during World War II. The masterpiece spent over 200 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list, won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, and was adapted into a critically acclaimed Netflix miniseries.

His earlier works, including the story collection The Shell Collector and the novel Cloud Cuckoo Land (a finalist for the National Book Award), earned widespread critical acclaim for their poetic depth and exploration of human resilience. Doerr lives in Idaho and continues to be a leading voice in contemporary literature.
