Cal Newport

Cal Newport is an American computer science professor, author, and public intellectual known for his influential writings on technology, productivity, and digital intentionality. Earning his Ph.D. in computer science from MIT, Newport is currently a professor of computer science at Georgetown University, researching distributed algorithms.

Alongside his academic career, Newport has written several bestselling books that challenge digital hyper-connectivity and advocate for deep concentration. His 2016 landmark book, Deep Work: Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World, became a global business phenomenon.
