Charlotte Fiell

Charlotte Fiell is a renowned British design historian, author, and curator who has extensively chronicled the evolution of modern design and architecture. Operating frequently alongside her husband, Peter Fiell, she has authored and edited over fifty books that serve as essential references for students, professionals, and design enthusiasts worldwide.

The Fiells are celebrated for their encyclopedic knowledge and visually rich publications with Taschen, most notably 1000 Chairs and Design of the 20th Century, which provide comprehensive overviews of industrial design landmarks. Charlotte trained at the Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts and later at Sotheby’s Institute in London, developing a sharp, analytical eye for aesthetic and functional shifts across decades.
