Carol Dweck
Dr. Carol S. Dweck is an American social psychologist and professor of psychology at Stanford University, internationally renowned for her pioneering research on motivation, personality, and intelligence. Born in New York, Dweck earned her B.A. from Barnard College and her Ph.D. from Yale University, holding positions at Columbia and Harvard before joining Stanford.
Dweck’s landmark research identified two distinct mindsets: the ‘fixed mindset’ (believing abilities are static) and the ‘growth mindset’ (believing abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work).
Her 2006 book, Mindset: The New Psychology of Success, became a massive global bestseller, revolutionizing educational practices, business management, sports coaching, and parenting. Dweck’s growth mindset research remains one of the most influential frameworks in contemporary psychology and education.
