Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela (1918–2013) was a revolutionary anti-apartheid political leader, philanthropist, and the first Black president of South Africa (1994–1999). Having spent 27 years imprisoned for his activism, he emerged to lead his nation through a peaceful democratic transition.

He is internationally celebrated as the author of the powerful autobiography Long Walk to Freedom, which chronicles his extraordinary life, endurance, and philosophy of forgiveness and reconciliation.
